Setting Up Call Forwarding
For Need Theo to answer your phone calls, you need to forward calls from your business phone to your Need Theo phone number. This guide shows you exactly how to do it.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- Your Need Theo phone number (found in your dashboard under Settings → Phone Numbers)
- Access to your business phone (the one you want Need Theo to answer)
Choose Your Guide
Call forwarding works differently depending on your phone carrier. Select the guide that matches your situation:

📄️ Canadian Carriers

Instructions for VoIP systems, landlines, and other phone systems not covered by specific carrier guides.
Forwarding Options Explained
Forward All Calls
Every call goes to Need Theo. Use this if:
- You want Need Theo to handle all calls
- You're on vacation
- You don't have time to answer any calls
Forward When Busy
Calls go to Need Theo only when you're on another call. Use this if:
- You still want to answer calls yourself
- You need backup when you're busy
Forward When No Answer
Calls go to Need Theo after a few rings if you don't pick up. Use this if:
- You want a chance to answer first
- Need Theo should only catch calls you miss
Recommended for most businesses: Forward when no answer. This way, you can still answer calls when available, but Need Theo catches everything else.
Testing Your Setup
After setting up forwarding, test it:
- From a different phone (use a friend's phone or your personal cell)
- Call your business number
- Depending on your forwarding type:
- Forward All Calls: Need Theo answers immediately
- Forward When No Answer: Let it ring without answering
- Forward When Busy: Be on another call when the test call comes in
- Need Theo should answer and greet the caller
If Need Theo doesn't answer:
- Double-check you dialed the forwarding code correctly
- Make sure you included the full phone number
- Try the forwarding setup again
